Aboriginal Relations Lead – Vancouver or Vancouver Island, BC

Based in either Vancouver or on Vancouver Island, and as a member of the Community team, the Aboriginal Relations Lead implements strategic engagement and consultation activities and plans consistent with Steelhead LNG values and objectives with First Nations.

Lead engagement and consultation activities with First Nation communities including citizens, members, leaders and staff, working on both the Malahat LNG facility and the Island Gas Connector Projects; implement strategic planning initiatives and objectives; organize and participate in site visits, workshops and other activities with First Nations and represent Steelhead LNG at community events.

There was standing-room only at a town hall meeting on the Malahat LNG project, hosted by the District of North Saanich on May 31.

But while the crowd was often raucous in their opposition to the proposed facility for the Saanich Inlet, attendees listened respectfully as Renee Racette, Malahat Nation’s chief executive, outlined why the nation had become involved in the project.
