Huu-ay-aht First Nations and Steelhead LNG place great importance on respect for the environment. In order to ensure that the lands and waters in and around Sarita Bay will continue to sustain future generations, Huu-ay-aht First Nations and Steelhead LNG have adopted Huu-ay-aht First Nations’ highest principles of ʔuuʔałuk (taking care of), ʔisaak (respect), and hišuk cawak (all is one) as guiding values of the proposed Project.

As part of the development process, Steelhead LNG and Huu-ay-aht First Nations will conduct comprehensive environmental studies to understand the existing conditions of the area potentially affected by the proposed Project.

These studies will be undertaken with participation of Huu-ay-aht citizens, environmental experts, scientists, engineers, and those with traditional knowledge about Huu-ay-aht lands and resources. The proposed Project will also be subject to a rigorous environmental assessment process through the provincial and federal governments and will meet or exceed all applicable regulatory requirements.
